WordPress Developer

Summary

We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual with strong experience in WordPress design, development, and optimization to join our expanding marketing team.

The WordPress Designer/Developer will be responsible for all aspects of our WordPress Multisite implementation. This person will also be responsible for creating a strong and stable theme, and be able to optimize our sites for quick load times. The WordPress Designer/Developer will tackle site issues that may arise, create a security and backup process, as well as be able to customize and create plugins to use for our business goals. The ideal candidate will be able to use their knowledge of UX/UI principles to create SEO rich, user friendly sites that are responsive to meet the growing demand from mobile users.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain custom themes that are multisite compatible
  • Manage a large number of sub-sites within a multisite environment
  • Build effective, mobile friendly landing pages for ongoing SEO/SEM campaigns
  • Develop mobile specific landing pages and sites
  • Optimize sites for quick load times
  • Plugin development and customization
  • Integrate web services via API to our internal systems
  • Fix site issues and implement security protocols
  • Develop and maintain a rigid backup process
  • Maintain change documentation
  • Ongoing A/B testing of sites and landing pages
  • Implementation of our SEO strategy into all pages and sites
  • Work with the creative team to build consensus around strategic designs
  • UX/UI testing and implementation
  • Keep current with emerging technologies
  • Work cooperatively with key team members

Required Skills

  • Understanding and experience with WordPress multisite
  • Strong knowledge of current web development languages (HTML5, CSS3, PHP/MySQL, Java, and jQuery)
  • Experienced with WooCommerce a plus
  • Understanding of UX/UI principles
  • Ability to produce clean code that validates and follows industry standards
  • Familiarity with Agile Methodology a plus
  • Knowledge of SEO
  • Experience with LAMP environment and IIS
  • Experience with third-party APIs (JSON, XML, Ajax)
  • Understand and experience with web fonts and icon fonts
  • Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours a week on-site
